Rule changes to Class 1 in 2004
To improve user-friendliness, and to stimulate further interest in Class 1 Carrier, some of the existing rules have been temporarily altered. We welcome your comments.
These changes are:
Rule 3 (additional part): You must use a safety strap between your wrist and the control handle throughout the duration of each flight.
Rule 3 (this part is suspended): The model wingspan shall be 44 inches maximum for Class 1 ( ie models may now be any wingspan.)
Rule 3.4 (additional part): Twin-engined models may use .21 cu.in. engines even though this combination exceeds the .4028 cu.in. limit.
Rule 3.4 (this part is suspended): Tuned pipe systems of any form are banned (ie tuned pipes and mini pipes are now permitted, although noise rules still apply!)
Rule 15: the whole of this rule will not be applied (ie a single model or engine may now be used by an unlimited number of contestants)
Sounds interesting? Then read on... but first a little about the layout of this site;
We have tried to assemble all the available information relevant to flying control line UK Carrier. As a result, there is a great deal of information here. We tell you about the history of Carrier Deck, the easiest way to get going in the beginners class of Basic Carrier Deck (BCD), the more complex Class One, details of recommended models, 3-line control systems, and of course the complete rules for both classes.If you are new to Carrier, we recommend you read the brief history followed by the introduction to BCD. This will lead you by subsequent pages through the whole process. When you are finished, or if you are an old hand, then please browse this site at your leisure. The whole site contains in excess of 16,000 words, and is packed with information and enlightenment. It is therefore probably in your interest to save the pages to your hard drive and then read on screen or print off to read at your convenience.
If anything doesn't work, or if you have any suggestions, good or otherwise, it will be good to hear from you. A monthly updated page of news and views is high on the list of good intentions. Submissions are very welcome, and we are also particularly interested in building a page of good links on a reciprocal basis. We run this site for the benefit of all, and think we have permission to publish all the stuff we have, or have credited the copyright owner on a "fair use" basis. If this is not the case, please get in touch and we will remove the offending file.
A small technical note: Programming is using very plain HTML4 code. No Java, no frames, no irrelevant noises. This means it should run as fast as possible even on modest PCs and modems, and be stable on all manner of browsers, although we prefer Netscape 4 'cos it's not Microsoft...
